6 Foods That Help You Drop Pounds Fast

Ever hear that water can help you lose a few extra pounds? It can, if you eat foods that contain a lot of water, like fruits and veggies. A recent study showed that women who ate high-water-content foods had lower body mass indexes and smaller waistlines.   Researchers speculate that the water in these foods may fill you up so you end up eating less. Make the strategy work for you by adding more of these 90% water filled fruits and veggies to your daily diet.  Check out these 6 foods that will help you drop pounds fast!

Broccoli –” Adding more broccoli to your diet will help you with weight loss because it, like most vegetables, is a low-calorie food that can help you fill up quickly, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Broccoli’s high fiber levels and water content add volume to your meal without adding empty calories, so you can eat, not be hungry and still lose weight. It’s also an easy low-calorie snack. The key, however, is that you substitute broccoli for foods you usually eat, not simply add broccoli to your diet.”

Cabbage – This veggie is very low in calories (just 16 calories per 1/2 cup cooked) and high in fiber.  Together, these two attributes spell weight loss, which should benefit your blood sugar.  Add to that the fact that cabbage is way low on the GI scale, and you’ve got a Magic winner! This veggie doesn’t just help you lose weight. Cabbage (especially the red variety) is also a surprisingly excellent source of vitamin C, which some experts believe may reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

Cauliflower – Like other cruciferous veggies, cauliflower is full of vitamin C and folate. And because cauliflower comes in at only 25 calories an ounce, it’s considered an extremely nutrient dense food, which means you can eat lots of it without having to worry about your weight.

Grapefruit – A powerhouse for heart health, grapefruit contains vitamin C, folic acid, and potassium. It detoxifies and aids in weight loss because it is low-calorie and keeps insulin levels low. Start each morning with half a grapefruit and you could see weight loss results in no time. Click HERE to see more benefits to adding grapefruit to your diet.

Lettuce – You need to consume fewer calories than you expend to lose weight, and lettuce is effective for helping you do that because it is so low in calories. A cup of romaine lettuce contains 8 calories, and a cup of green leaf lettuce contains 5 calories. Lettuce can help you lose weight because it allows you to consume large, satisfying meals without too many calories. Try a large green salad with romaine lettuce, raw vegetables and tuna, or add lettuce to sandwiches and wraps to make them bigger without adding many calories.

Spinach – When it comes to weight-loss foods, spinach is a real nutritional powerhouse. A single cup of spinach contains just 7 calories and only 1 gram of carbohydrate, plus it provides you with iron, folate, magnesium, calcium and plenty of antioxidants. Making this filling, low-calorie food a regular part of your meal plan could aid weight loss. Use it in salads, protein shakes, omelets, or as a side dish.  My favorite side dish is my sauteed spinach.  Get the recipe HERE!
