Halloween week is here, and it is definitely a time that will test your will power! If weight is something you struggle with, these five simple tips may help you get through the holiday feeling proud and inspired!
Even if you can follow just a few of these easy tweaks, you may save yourself hundreds of calories, which can turn into many unwanted pounds!
1. Buy candy you personally DON’T LIKE.
2. Don’t over buy candy, to avoid leftovers.
3. Look up the calories for your favorite candy, it may make you think twice before indulging.
4. Trick or Treat with a few snacks in your pocket. That way you have something healthy to put in your mouth instead of candy. I love flavored almonds, an apple, or a protein bar.
5. Do a little extra cardio Halloween morning, and plan to be active the next day!
Before you reach for a piece of candy, consider how much exercise it will take to burn off those calories!!! This list is just a sample of the most popular treats!

My trick every year, living in Chicago, is to carry around a warm thermos (my Hydro Flask) of zero calorie apple cider, sugar-free hot chocolate, or an almond milk latte. Having something sweet to sip on can curb your cravings and fill you up. Remember that “in 20 seconds the candy will be gone, the taste will be over and all that will be left is regret…Just like last time!” What is your strategy on Halloween to not totally blow your progress and stay on track?
